Flashing new firmware on the Samsung D500

I. Introduction

First of all, I’ll start with a warning:
FLASHING THE D500 WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY AND IS COMPLETELY AT OWN RISK!
Beneath are the things you need to flash the Samsung D500:

#A Samsung D500 Flash cable (not the Data cable! We can look for it here.)

# 9 Volt Battery for the Flash cable

# The Corona-Downloader

II. Backup Guide

First thing you need to do is make a backup of your own firmware, so that in case the flashing of the new firmware fails, you can still flash your old firmware back. Now let’s get started.

  • Connect the flash cable at a COM-Port on the back of your computer.
(Check your settings of the COM-Port at the Hardware Settings, the Baud-setting must be at 115200)
  • Conect a 9 Volt Battery on the Flash Cable.
  • Remove your Sim-Card from the phone and put the battery back.
Please note: The battery must be completely loaded before the flashing process!

Samsung SGH-D820 unveiled with full specifications

Samsung announced the SGH-D820, a quad-band slider cell phone for GSM networks. While not as thin as the SGH-D800, the SGH-D820 is also slender at just 15.2mm depth. The USP of this phone, however, lies in its wide array of multimedia functions.

The D820 comes with 73MB of internal memory, but the best part is the MicroSD slot. This is definitely good news for those looking for a D800 alternative.

The SGH-D820 also features a 2.12″ 240×320 TFT LCD capable of 262k colors. The audio player supports MP3, AAC and AAC+ (just to take a bit of your fun away, WMA support has been stripped off). But it does come with dual stereo speakers and voice recognition, pushing its weight to 103 grams. Another interesteing feature is the TV-out with this phone.
