iPhone in India: More confusion
Ok, so last week after the official Vodafone announcement we all thought that the confusion about who is going to launch iPhone in India is finally over.
Turns out that is far from the case, a Philippines based company has just announced the following in its press release:
Globe, SingTel, Bharti Airtel and Optus today announced that they have signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to the Philippines, Singapore, India, and Australia later this year.
More information will be released at a later date.
Also, reports have started coming in that Airtel has also issued a statement saying it plans to launch iPhones in India before the end of this year.

Whoa… so now Bharti Airtel is in the iPhone race too? Then what about the announcement by Vodafone? Are we also going the Italian way having two iPhone carriers?
If the two carriers story turns out to be the case, Indian consumers will have something to rejoice about as the competition between Vodafone and Airtel will keep monopolistic behavior at bay and subscribers can expect better deals.

Yes,.. this is blatent marketing intimidation and attempted rip-offery by the providers.
It needs to be half the price that it is,..and more after sales freedoms and services. One sure way to make this happen in India would be for everyone to boycott the purchase of the iphone for 3 months…then the price will be halved!
