iPhone 1.1.3 officially released (and Google shows some more iPhone love)
At MacWorld 2008, Apple CEO Steve Jobs released iPhone firmware 1.1.3 minutes back. This comes as no surprise to most of iPhone owners as rumors and screenshots of the new firmware have been doing rounds on the internet since past few weeks.
Among the main features that new iPhone firmware supports is ability to send multiple SMS (which was earlier missing but could be done through some hacks), personalized homescreen and the one I am most excited about.. Triangulation of your location on Google Maps.
What Triangulation will do is to interact with your cellphone tower and wifi hotspot to exactly pinpoint where you are located on Google Maps. This will eliminate the need for GPS device at all!
This news should also bring some cheer for owners of iPhone 1.1.2 who are stuck with an iBrick since public release of this firmware is expected to speed up the path towards software unlock of 1.1.2 OTB.
Google also announce more tweaks to its existing suite of iPhone apps at the show, this includes more customization option to users, speedier GMail and Google Calender apps and ability to completely import iGoogle personal home page to iPhone.
