iPhone 1.1.2 OTB unlock expected soon
Fans of iphone who have bought an Out of The Box (OTB) piece of iPhone iwith firmware version 1.1.2 have a reason to be happy - a software unlock of this version is expected to be out soon now.
Okay, here’s some background; Hackint0sh - the group that has been releasing most of past iPhone unlocks - has made it clear that since the version 1.1.2 of iPhone does not accept older secpacks, it can only be unlocked when the next version of the firmware (1.1.3) will be out. And just a few hours back a popular website GearLive posted apparent pics of firmware 1.1.3 on its site. For those who are curious, 1.1.3 supports the ability to sent multiple sms messages and has an extended Google Maps application.
Generally in case of Apple products such “leaks” are precursors to actual product release and one should expect 1.1.3 to be out sooner rather than later and hopefully the great guys at Hackint0sh should show their magic again.
If you are stuck with an 112 OTB and can’t wait till then you can try the hardware unlock which involves using “TurboSIM” or other such sim-simulators and cutting up your simcard to make the iphone think that the AT&T card is still in.

[...] This news should also bring some cheer for owners of iPhone 1.1.2 who are stuck with an iBrick since public release of this firmware is expected to speed up the path towards software unlock of 1.1.2 OTB. [...]
